Leah White & the Magic Mirrors: BLOG

I've never in my life scripted, written or directed a rock video.  I've never considered myself a dancer, but yet I'll end up doing all of these things this summer.  We will set the recording in Sugarland, Texas.  Can't wait to do the Sprinkler.

I was leaving my girls' pre-school the other day and caught another mom giving me a giant smile.  She next asked me if I was the singing lady.  I said yes and my name was Leah.  It cracked me up.  I've been going to St. Luke's Day School since my oldest child was two years old.  She is now 6 and my other 2 girls are now going through this amazing program.  I've worked at the church part-time for 4 years and many of the teachers and parents know me from that.  So it was a total inspiration for a mother and her daughter who are big fans catch me outside the school and tell me "i'm the singing lady. they love my music" and explain they didn't know I had children that went to the school.  I was thrilled that someone loved my music.  This mom's name is Laura and I hope she knows how she made my day by giving me her smile and compliments. 

There is so much going on in the world of Leah White & The Magic Mirrors and I'm extremely hopeful and excited. 
#1 my new album SPRINKLER releases at the end of this month.  I receive the copies on May 17th.  This album is so different from the others.  I worked with Paul Beebe on this and it was really a collaborative effort.  I write all the songs but he's there with all of his creative input that helps me take the songs to the next level....it also helps that he plays tons of instruments and is a performer as well.  We are really proud of this album. 
#2  The Houston Zoo loves the song "beautiful day" on SPRINKLER.  They want to use it as their Zoo Theme song which is amazing.  They want to play it during the day, they want to film a video of the song to play on their Comcast channel, play it on their site....etc.  They really love the song which is the best eva!!!!

I'm obsessed with finding ways to cheat cooking the hard way.  I have three kids and I'm all about looking like I spent days in preparation for a meal by finding something  pre-packaged and healthy.   I was raving to all my girlfriends about my mother-in-laws find of chopped white onion in the frozen food section. Thanks to her I'll never have to chop another onion and shed tears.  I just use what I need for each recipe.  My other fave was finding rice in the frozen food section in a bag.  I stuck it in the microwave in the bag and kapoof!  It was nice, white fluffy rice without the mess in the pan. So I'm sharing this with my producer, Paul Beebe, while recording...as if I just discovered something truly amazing and he explains that's nothing.  He then introduces me to Uncle Ben's 90 min. rice in a bag.  They come in all amazing flavors (chicken, spanish...) and it totally weirded me out at first because it's mushy in the bag.   [...]

Just found out the Sarah Gish is founder of www.GishCreative.com .  Sarah is a PR guru but her site is all about a guide for cultural activities for families.  I was at dinner one evening with some girlfriends and they were going on and on about Gish Pics.  I had never heard of them before but it sounded like everyone else had and I was completely out of the loop.  I quickly emailed Sarah to tell her about Leah White & The Magic Mirrors music for children & families.
So Sarah called me this evening to tell me how we have to get together and she's so excited to meet another person in the community with a "children & family" agenda.  She raves about exciting projects such as writing a children's book and preserving Houston's architecture all the way to informing children about their roots in Houston and where our history is grounded.  All of this and I just sat there listening extremely fascinated with everything she had to say with 2x as much energy [...]
